CARRTOONS develops its trademark Modern Motown Sound to further expand its already diverse musical repertoire into jazz, soul, hip-hop and more. »Homegrown« is Ben Carr's first release on the renowned label Wichita Recordings (Bloc Party, First Aid Kit, My Morning Jacket, yes yes Yeahs) The youngest son of jazz violinist Richard Carr (Bill Laswell, Bootsy Collins), received his college degree in jazz performance, debuted with Mad Satta and opened for artists such as Thundercat, Nick Hakim, Gabriel Garzon Montano and Mac Ayres. In recent years, he has become one of the most sought-after producers in the music industry due to his eye-catching Instagram videos, powerful bass lines and memorable melodies. His unique fills, phrases and compositions made him an instant favourite, thanks in large part to his recent collaborations with Robert Glasper, Alex Isley, Kiefer and Butcher Brown. The ad placement of his track "Give It Up" with Green Mountain Coffee brought him to a whole new audience, while his guest appearance on the Tiny Desk Series, where he rearranged NPR's 50th anniversary theme songs, was also a hit. A strong start to 2022, CARRTOONS' work with The KOUNT to release their ultraviral video »On My Way« and to grow organically from over 100,000 followers in 4 weeks on Instagram.
