Product description

The second work by an artist usually has a particularly difficult time in public criticism. The advance praise, which is still generously distributed on the debut, is quickly used up. This was also the case with the second Fehlfarben LP when it was released in autumn 1981. »33 Days in Chains« was measured too much against the super-album »Monarchie und Alltag«. At "33 Days in Chains" the charismatic shouter Peter Hein was no longer there. Shortly before a planned tour of Germany in the spring of 1981, he had turned his back on the band because he couldn't cope with the pressure to succeed. Guitarist Thomas Schwebel, who wrote the lyrics together with Peter Hein for »Monarchie und Alltag«, finally took over the difficult office of frontman. The album, recorded in the summer of 1981 at the EMI Studios in Cologne, is much heavier and more stirring than »Monarchie und Alltag«. In the massive opener »Tanz mit dem Herzen«, Uwe Bauer, who died in 2023 and was never a friend of quiet tones anyway, drums like a young god while bass (Michael Kemner) and guitar (Uwe Jahnke) march. For this reissue on black vinyl, in addition to rare B-sides, the completely unreleased track »Warten auf« as well as previously unheard live recordings from an 81 gig at Radio Bremen could be secured. Features writer Marc Hairapetian also contributes updated and exclusive liner notes.
