Product description

Between night buses and taxi rides, between Paris, Munich, Jesolo, and a small town in the Ruhr region, between love, heartbreak, and countless cigarettes smoked, this is precisely where the stories unfold that are the focus of "Dazwischen" (In Between) – the debut album by Florian Paul and Kapelle der letzten Hoffnung (Chapel of Last Hope). Florian Paul, the band's leader, has assembled a top-notch musical ensemble for his narratives. Flurin Mück (drums), Sam Hylton (keys), Nils Wrasse (saxophone), and Robin Jermer (bass) enrich the songs with their multifaceted sound. The singer, only twenty-three years old, with a voice that sounds like it's been honed over many years behind a bar, explores in his lyrics big dreams, great loves, and again and again, fear – the album's antagonist and constant companion. In doing so, he follows in the footsteps of generations of renowned German singer-songwriters before him, but at the same time poignantly captures the feeling of his generation, which, "between self-pity and delusions of grandeur," longs to finally leave, but actually wishes to perhaps still meet someone who will guide them home through the night and for whom it's worth staying. And it is precisely these stories, which everyone already knows because everyone has experienced them, that are gathered on "Dazwischen" (In Between). It is a musical expression of the deepest longing, a remembrance of all loves, both big and small, and those that never happened, and a nod to every empty glass at the bar between Munich and the Ruhr region.
