Hotel Rimini - Endangered Species CD New
Hotel Rimini release their second album, »Endangered Species«, which will be released on vinyl and CD via K&F Records and follows their debut »Alone Under Furniture«. According to the six-member band, the album was recorded in an abandoned motorway service station, which they reached after a drive with an empty tank and a battered tour bus. There they found boarded-up windows and dilapidated gas pumps, but also electricity and snacks, and set up a makeshift recording studio amidst cornfields, poppies, and wind turbines. Singer Julius Forster's lyrics address themes such as lonely self-promoters, dead forests, management consultants, barking dogs, waving flags, and people in front of animals in zoos. Some songs contain explicit descriptions of everyday brutality, while others employ poetic imagery. Musically, the album moves between chanson-pop, rock, chamber music, indie, and jazz. The band's string-heavy instrumentation is complemented by contributions from guests: Damian Dalla Torre on saxophone, bass clarinet, and flute; Filip Sommer on viola; and Julius Forster's parents on alto flute and Fender Rhodes.
