Originally released on October 11, 1957, the album features classics such as "I Walk The Line," which was a No. 1 country hit for six non-consecutive weeks before entering the Billboard pop chart Top 20, "Cry, Cry, Cry" (No. 14 on the country chart), "So Doggone Lonesome" (No. 4 on the country chart), and "Folsom Prison Blues," which would top the country charts more than a decade later. when Cash performed the piece as part of his seminal 1968 live album, At Folsom Prison.
