La Dispute: No One Was Driving the Car CD Neu
In 2025, it will be six years since La Dispute released their last album Panorama. Since then, the Michigan post-hardcore band - consisting of Jordan Dreyer (vocals), Brad Vander Lugt (drums), Chad Morgan-Sterenberg and Corey Stroffolino (guitar) and Adam Vass (bass) - has overcome the stagnation of the pandemic, celebrated the tenth anniversary of Wildlife and Rooms Of The House and started work on "No One Was Driving the Car". The fifth studio LP is the first to be produced entirely by the group, and it was recorded in Grand Rapids and Detroit, the United Kingdom, Australia and the Philippines: "I think the change of environment was really helpful in breathing new life into the process every time we came back to it," says Dreyer. " No One Was Driving the Car« is partly inspired by the 2017 psychological thriller First Reformed and deals with the unease in the shadow of the impending apocalypse, which has been noticeably worsened by technological progress. The title comes from a quote from a police officer that Dreyer read in a newspaper article about a fatal accident involving a self-driving Tesla — an absurd event that raises questions about the control we have over our own lives. In fourteen dynamic tracks, the band deals with the existential theme and the human need to find solace and a sense of security in an existence where we are often pushed into chaos without permission.
