Product description

More than four years have passed since the last release of Matula from Hamburg, and now their fourth album is finally in sight: »Schwere«. While the previous record »Auf allen Festen« (2014) was still permeated by the oversupply of possibilities, the resulting FOMO and the question of whether to go along with all the nonsense, the new album »Schwere« is more or less the hangover after the Halligalli party you went to after all: Everything was all well and good (or not), what fun we had, It's nice to have seen you again or to have "gotten to know" you, but: What now...? This is where the record comes in. A necessary stocktaking. Persistent emptiness, missed (supposed) opportunities everywhere, dead ends, dilemmas. Loneliness, occupied lungs and mind. The full program of an anti-party to which you would rather not be invited, but are forced to go. And that is hungover. And above all, this leaden heaviness that leaves you almost unable to act. But sitting it out is not an option. This must and will hurt. Matula also know this and made this record exactly about it. So that it becomes more bearable. A sorting out, a getting rid of. and try to sharpen our gaze in the direction of things and people, who are unconditional buoys in the much too loud frenzy. Finally, we realize: Fortunately, we are not alone here. Task is not. And so everything goes a little more forward here than Matula last sounded – the pop part is scaled back in favor of more urgency, because after all, the celebration is over for the time being and no one remembers the occasion anymore. Ten new songs, recorded over the year 2017 in southern Hesse with Raphael Rasmus, in 35 minutes, which stand up to the heaviness.
