Noon Garden is an exotic psych-pop odyssey from one of the founding members of the Flamingods. Drawing on mundane sounds from Francis Bebey and Dur Dur Band to Shintaro Sakamoto, he tears apart the sonic rulebook and conjures up a faraway land where you can relax to grooves that wind through a wide spectrum of African disco, funk, exotica and psychedelia. Noon Garden has already been supported by greats such as Clash and The Line Of Best Fit. Born in Britain with Nigerian and Jamaican roots, he spent his childhood in Bahrain, surrounded by people who, like himself, lived on an island far from home. Seeing the world from an early age and the experience of 10 years of world touring with Flamingods have been incorporated into his new project and have had a huge impact on the design of Noon Garden's tropical adventure. As a talented multi-instrumentalist, Charles wrote, produced and played all the parts on the single himself. Noon Garden says about the album: "This debut was an experiment to get to know myself better. Writing music is a therapeutic process for me, and it took me about eight years to finish this album on my own, to try to understand what I wanted to say lyrically and explore sonically. The lyrics of the album have changed a lot over time, but they take a curious look at the human experience; in my case, growing up and absorbing many cultures from an early age in the Middle East, in Great Britain and briefly in Singapore.
