Product description

Simon & Garfunkel were the most successful pop duo of the 60s - and although they parted ways in 1970, their longplay also sold millions of copies in the 70s, 80s and 90s. The two had already come together as a musical duo in 1957 - just 16 years old - and performed under the name Tom & Jerry. In the beginning, they were still fixated on rock'n'roll, but in the early 60s they developed their very own folk-pop mixture, which they presented on the album »Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.« in 1964. Their worldwide breakthrough came with the song "The Sound Of Silence" in the fall of 1965. More albums followed: »Sounds Of Silence«, »Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme«, »The Graduate« and »Bookends» regularly occupied top positions in the charts. In 1970, the duo finally released their absolute masterpiece »Bridge Over Troubled Water«, which became the best-selling album of the 70s and collected a total of six Grammys. After their separation, the two performed together from time to time, but instead of trying new things, they preferred to stay true to their old hits. The CD »Greatest Hits« contains all of Simon & Garfunkel's great hits, e.g. »Bridge Over Troubled Water«, »Mrs. Robinson«, »I Am A Rock«, »The Boxer«, »Scarborough Fair«, »El Condor Pasa« and many more - all anthems of an entire generation.
