Roots Rock Riot, which originated in a boxing club, was recorded in America, and laid the foundation for everything that followed, is an important part of Skindred's story—a part this reissue celebrates. It was the first album in their discography to feature the eventual core lineup of Benji, Arya, bassist Daniel Pugsley, and guitarist Mikey Demus, and began as their difficult second album. What came of it goes far beyond that: it ended a difficult phase in the band's existence and boldly opened the door to the future of their illustrious career. The reissue of Roots Rock Riot, available for the first time on vinyl and CD, includes rare excerpts and previously unreleased music.
