"Still here" sings the Sportfreunde Stiller right at the beginning of "Happy Birthday!", their album for the band's 30th anniversary. A pragmatic, an almost logical and therefore also a highly successful start. Not that you have to point it out explicitly, because for many of us the songs of Peter, Rüde and Flo were always somehow present, take a look at your playlists, CD and record shelves. In 2026, they sound fresh and unspent as in the blessed "Thonträger" times, but at the same time experienced, washed with all waters and, despite all the nostalgia, also contemporary. Rock music as it should be, punky uptempo drums and sometimes well-tempered, rough electric guitars included. In addition, there is her unerring sense for unforgettable pop melodies and a certain penchant for flat synths, sometimes reminiscent of the 80s. Lyrically, »Happy Birthday!« also goes in the right direction - in stormy times: turned towards life, now and then also thoughtful, but basically uniting all people.
