Sometimes the best stories are written by chance. Such is the case with "Getz/Gilberto". Astrud Gilberto had actually only accompanied her husband, João Gilberto, to the recording sessions as an interpreter.

But then Stan Getz had Astrud, although not a professional singer, record the tracks "The Girl From Ipanema" and "Corcovado." The album, which also featured Jobim and drumming legend Milton Banana, became a worldwide hit and was the first jazz production ever to win the Grammy for Album of the Year.
