Noise Records releases high-quality re-releases of the early Tankard albums. Fully remastered with brand new liner notes and previously unreleased footage. Tankard are a thrash metal band from Frankfurt, Germany, formed in 1982. Together with Kreator, Destruction and Sodom, Tankard are often referred to as the »Big Teutonic 4« of German thrash metal. They released their first album in 1986 and since then they have continued to write and record as they started back then: with fast thrash metal over beer and alcohol. Tankard's last album released via Noise was the self-titled »The Tankard« in 1995. While retaining the more serious side that was already evident on its predecessor »Two-Faced«, its sound was a melting pot of their signature thrash of their usual tempo and power, with a good dose of hardcore and a pinch of melody, and refined with some of their catchiest choruses to date. In the same year, they restored the humorous balance by starting a side project, in the course of which they covered German-language songs in a punk/metal manner – much to the delight of their numerous fans.
