An album about "Unheimlich Nette Leute". The private is always political. The Blank Extreme captures this state of affairs on their second album so relevantly, as if they were drawing a moral portrait of the state of the FRG in 2021 with the eight new songs. They observe (themselves) closely, dissect these impressions with razor-sharp sarcasm, put their finger in the wounds of modern times and thus write an album that surpasses the melancholic-exuberant predecessor by a much darker, angrier and more sarcastic note in lyrical content. The songs have been given titles such as "Proverbial Skirmish", "To the Golden Cage" or "Filter Bubbles", as if they could channel the tension and despair before they fray. Musically, the band drives their songs to nervous spatiality and condensed frenzy. The post-punk colored guitars, acting with more effects, play around each other with feedback and jagged energy, the bass pushes incessantly, the drums act precisely like a restless pulse. The songs are darker, heavier and more varied and thus longer and more unpredictable, which effortlessly expands the band's sound towards post-punk. Recorded this spring.
