Product description

Founded in Wattenscheid in 1984, The Frits are one of the very first ska bands in Germany. With their debut »Die Erste« (1988), they came just in time for the ska wave that was then rolling in and were subsequently able to share the stage with legends such as Selecter, the Bad Manners, Desmond Dekker and even UB40. With »The Rude Message« (1989), the contribution »Work« on the pork pie sampler »Ska... Ska... Skandal Vol. 2« (1990) and the album »Little Idiots« (1991), which was released at the same time, the »German Specials« swam at the height of the new ska enthusiasm and became a cult band in the scene with songs like »The Most I Hate Is You«, »Bonehead«, »Little Idiots« or »Life Of Brian«. After the fourth album »Not Enough For You!« (1993), which was recorded in Coventry by ska producer legend Roger Lomas, even Horace Panter (The Specials) played bass on the cover »Concrete Jungle«, the live album »Look On The Bright Side Of Live!« was released for the band's 10th anniversary, before it became quiet around the band for a long time. It was not until the 25th anniversary – the official The Frits recordings had all been sold out for a long time – that the band was frenetically celebrated on the main stage of the Zeltfestival Ruhr 2009 and has since played selected highlight performances at popular scene festivals again. With the brand new song »Still Alive« they recently even graced the legendary sampler »Ska... Ska... Scandal Vol. 6« (2015). So it's high time that the best songs and recordings of the scene's founding fathers, who have now been around for 30 years, are finally available again on a record in a carefully restored sound form - 22 songs, almost 80 minutes of total playing time - an absolute must for every ska fan!!
