The members of The Halo Effect are masters of their craft, pioneers of the Gothenburg melodic death metal scene. Lead guitarists and melodic death metal aces Niclas Engelin and Jesper Strömblad, lead singer and lyricist Mikael Stanne, supported by the solid backbone and foundation of bassist Peter Iwers, and his partner of over twenty years, the hard-hitting drummer Daniel Svensson.

The members, who had known each other since early childhood in the late 1980s, began playing together in various projects in the 1990s before forming In Flames and Dark Tranquillity, two truly iconic bands that would later dominate the Gothenburg scene. Both bands were particularly important forces behind Melodath's nickname: The Gothenburg Sound. A sound that resonated far and wide across the globe and influenced countless metal bands in the 1990s and early 2000s. This was also the original idea behind The Halo Effect – to go back to the roots and explore what groundbreaking metal sounded like back then, before adding the experience and skill that the members bring to the table today. The result is an exceptional album and a true masterpiece for Melodeath fans, where the echoes of the Gothenburg Sound are unmistakable.
