The debut turns 30 The German independent band The Notwist has been around for more than 30 years. Founded in Bavaria in 1989 by the brothers Markus Acher (vocals, guitar) and Micha Acher (bass) as well as Martin "Mecki" Messerschmidt (drums), their sound has gone through several stations to this day, although the group has remained relatively stable in its line-up. While their last albums, for which The Notwist have received the most attention and through which they have now become darlings of the feuilleton, were strongly influenced by electronic music, at the beginning of their career they were still moving in much rockier and darker realms. This musical side, »... a unique balancing act between melodic independent, metallic rock and explosive hardcore parts«, is also shown on the band's debut album »The Notwist« from 1990, which is named after the band.
