This debut album, a rare piece of New German Death Art (as much as the band hates this pigeonhole, it is still formative) with the scene hits Kain Und Abel and the high-flyer God's Death, was cancelled in 2004 and has since been available only through various collectors' fairs. Das Ich still knows how to combine electronic, symphonic and early industrial elements into an explosive cocktail that is unparalleled in contrast to the otherwise often cliché-suffocated German-language music culture. Das Ich quickly established themselves as a permanent fixture and became the epitome of experimental and innovative electronics. Celebrated as the initial spark of a new genre of the Post Wave, Kraftwerk and Neubauten era, they successfully lead the chart entries of the independent scene. Europe-wide tours consolidate the position of Das Ich, who soon have the reputation of apocalyptic eccentrics, because their concerts are a vicious, bone-shaking spectacle.
