It expands the scope - a confident step away from the boundaries that once clearly defined their sound, towards something more permeable, talkative and deeply Indonesian. Two years have passed since »Perak«, the Surabaya-based trio's debut album on Big Crown Records, unveiled their unique sound. This new album doesn't break with that tradition, but expands on it and shows how much they've grown as a band since the release of their debut and all the experiences that come with it. Consisting of vocalist and keyboardist Natassya Sianturi, guitarist and producer Sinatrya Dharaka and drummer Tommy Satwick, Thee Marloes have always worked as a unit, with their songs marked by common reference points and a strong sense of groove. On this album, this common language expands. The arrangements move across a broader spectrum, with new instrumental colors, unexpected rhythmic twists, and a looser approach to structure. The album opener »Under the Silver Moon« is a cool two-stepper that addresses the bitter and sweet sides of long-distance relationships against a breezy musical backdrop. » Six Years« is a page from the life of singer Natassya Sianturi and her struggle to take the step of giving up a comfortable and secure day job to pursue her dream of a fulfilling life.
