Then you absolutely must check out "Malevolent Assault of Tomorrow," the debut album from German thrashers Violent Force. Anyone who likes their thrash traditional (or, more precisely, anyone who's into Sodom/Slayer hybrids with a good dose of Motörhead) should definitely have this record on their radar. The band from Velbert managed to win over fans all over the world right from the start of their (far too short) career. Thanks to tape trading, the first Violent Force demos reached as far afield as Brazil and Australia, where you can still find die-hard fans today. This promising start meant Violent Force were inundated with offers and ultimately signed with Roadrunner Records for their 1987 debut. Roadrunner was still underground at the time, but already on its way up. For many well-informed thrash fans, it remains a mystery why Violent Force weren't already huge back then. Everything seemed perfect: the right place, the right time, and, above all, the right music: Ruhr area-style speed/thrash that was both typical and unique, on a record with crystal-clear sound that perfectly complemented the razor-sharp riffs, the dynamic drums, and singer Lemmy's (!) performance.
