The debut album from Stockholm-based waterbaby, who has already been nominated for two Swedish Grammys and is a popular collaborator of Swedish star Hannes (see the streaming hits "Stockholmsvy" and "Wish"), is released via Sub Pop. The eight-track album includes the previously released singles "Amiss" and "Beck n Call," as well as the highlights "Sink," "Clay," "Srs Ice," and the new video for the title track, "Memory Be a Blade." The up-and-coming singer-songwriter waterbaby from Stockholm, Sweden, sees everything through a romantic lens. This is evident in the music of the emerging artist, which is nostalgic, delicate, and as fluid as her stage name suggests. waterbaby grew up in a musical family, from her great-grandfather, a jazz pianist, to her uncle who worked in clubs, to her own brother, who performs under the name tt. She eventually found her own path and sound, releasing her debut EP, "Foam," on Sub Pop in 2023. Produced by her main collaborator Marcus White (YG, Anna of the North), the vibrant, confessional, guitar-driven project included the singles "911," "Airforce Blue," and "Wishing Well." Following the 2025 release of the single "Amiss" and the award-winning collaboration with Hannes, "Wish," waterbaby is gearing up for the highly anticipated release of her debut album, "Memory Be a Blade." Darker and more lush than her EP, waterbaby's new music springs from a place of unconscious heartache, reflecting on a past breakup while on the verge of experiencing a new one. White assembled an outstanding team of musicians to add depth and completeness to the sound, reflecting waterbaby's classical musical background. "It kind of took shape before our very eyes," she says of the seamless process of bringing these emotional new songs to life. This time the lyrics were more improvised, which gave Waterbaby more freedom to express what she wanted to say. "I picked up the microphone without knowing what I was going to do," she says, "and it's become the most honest outlet of my life."
